Q: What is Easter all about?

Many people today, when they hear about Easter, immediately think of the Easter bunny, Easter eggs, or hot cross buns. However, the true meaning of Easter involves so much more than just chocolates and cute furry animals.

Easter is the time of year when we stop, remember, and celebrate the life, death, and resurrection of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Jesus was God manifest in the flesh. God humbled himself, came and entered into humanity in order to rescue and redeem us from our sin and corruption. Jesus Christ lived a perfect, sinless life, and died a sacrificial death of our behalf. Only through Jesus Christ is our salvation and redemption possible. Whoever repents of their sins, puts their faith in Jesus Christ alone, and lives according to his ways, shall not be separated from God after death, but will be ushered into the righteous and everlasting life God has and wants for each and every one of us.

Below is a list of Scripture references from the four gospels, which record some of the main events of the Easter story. Following that is a set of resources addressing some of the most common questions people ask after hearing about the life, death and resurrection of Jesus.
